Dear NYU SPS Community,
One of the most gratifying aspects of serving as dean is working with our faculty, staff, and students to create connections across our school and our world—connections that have the power to help us grow and drive change in the world. In that spirit, I wanted to shine a light on just some of the many ways we’re building these important connections every day.
Connecting to Industry
- This week, NYU SPS and The J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation announced a $5 million fund to prepare associate degree students for hospitality careers. This is a testament to the strength of our mission and our relationship with one of the biggest names in this industry.
- If you’re wondering what the future of fashion holds, look no further than Marc Beckman’s upcoming podcast, which was recorded in front of a live audience of students and features the CMO of Marc Jacobs and the EVP of the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
- Congratulations to everyone involved in our recent Conference on Sustainable Real Estate, an incredible platform to connect industry, ideas, and people that showcased 14 NYU schools and departments and 77 speakers across industry and academia.
Connecting to the World
- The Tisch Center of Hospitality recently hosted a workshop with the Tourism Authority of Thailand and the Center for Global Affairs held an exercise focused on Central Asia with the US Army War College. We know that learning at NYU SPS goes beyond classroom walls, but examples like these underscore the extent of our global reach.
- From food and fashion to fantastic performances, I had a wonderful time celebrating our vibrant, flourishing community at last week’s Global Village.
Connecting to Each Other
- DAUS Clinical Professor Hui Soo Chae recently moderated a Tandon School of Engineering panel and Erica McGibbon received the American College Personnel Association’s Coalition-Builder Award from the Commission for Academic Affairs. Thank you for lending your expertise to build and strengthen these important collaborative ties.
- Congratulations to the two groups from NYU SPS named among the 2025 NYU Work Life Caring Culture Grantees. I know your work will continue to enhance our community.
- A quick reminder that NYU One Day, the University’s annual day of giving, is just around the corner on March 12.
As we head into spring break, I hope you find ways to continue to connect and explore—and some quiet moments to disconnect and recharge, too.
Warmly,
